Q AND A WITH LADY TARA MORGAN, HEAD WITCH
So what is the difference between a Traditional School and an Online School or Online Education?
A "traditional school" is at a physical location - a building, where you study and learn in person in a physical, hands on environment. Here you will meet administrators, instructors, and class mates. Here you can form friendships and potential networking opportunities. Classes, for example, a broom or wand class, are fun and interactive with an Educrafter standing beside you and helping you and with provided materials. Nothing gets lost in your spam folder or snail mail.
Online only schools are just that - class and ciriculum available and taken online through a computer, via links and downloads, video or audio lectures. You can work at your own pace - although quality schools will usually ask you to complete a course in 30 days. If you are a night owl, waking up at three in the morning or work night hours, your class is only a download away, however, an instructor will not be available and is usually contacted through email to be answered during normal business hours. Classes, again for example, a broom or wand class, require you to order your own materials and complete the work, unassisted and by yourself. Any extra materials required for classes are usually the hidden costs that are not advertised and come out of your pocket. A lot of times classes are advertised as being free but often donations are required to "help" defray costs. Please, keep in mind that any agency asking for donations must register with the Internal Revnue Service and have tax exempt status. Also, especially in Massachusetts, agencies must register with their own town or city hall.
Why does Magick School offer both options?
By providing both options we are able to give those who desire a hands on experience and those that desire an online experience the full dedication and time it deserves. Whether you like a social atmosphere or whether you have a job that prevents attending a physical school and require the convenience of an online ciriculum, Magick School has it. Magick School is a real school with real, hard working Educrafters that spend hours creating and perfecting classes. Magick School provides stability, creativity, and security in both atmospheres. Lady Tara, headmistress of Magick School, oversees any and all class cirriculum before it is posted online and approves all online lectures and workships.
What makes Magick School a wise and practical choice for Spiritual Seekers?
Magick School is located in, and a division of, Charmed in New England, a registered and licensed tax paying business. Magick School maintains the highest integrity and standards with regard to curriculum and Educrafters. We have a zero tolerance policy for Educrafters who have substandard practices and they are terminated accordingly. We strive each day to raise the bar creating and communicating with our students. Our number one goal is providing a safe and warm environment, whether online or in class.
By creating Room On The Broom, our online division, students who choose this option know exactly where to go on our site to register, enroll in class, ask questions, and plan a selection of courses that is right for them. In addition, students can combine both in school and online choices to make learning even more fun, affordable, and interactive. Our curriculum changes to keep things fresh and new. We keep our student's favorites while adding new additions.
The month of October is especially exciting for Charmed in New England and Magick School and there are many perks for our students. Enrolled students in Magick School receive new class and workshop previews for enrollment options before they are released to the public and 10% off of all purchases at Charmed. For those students that have attended at least four classes in a calendar year, free tickets for many of upcoming events are available.
We have also just completed a new concept for reduced rates for those who want to learn but are having financial difficulties. We have implemented a reduced rate program for single mothers, starving students, the eager but unemployed spiritual seekers for both our online and in school classes. We have also implemented our helping hands program for students who live near or drive to Magick School for class. Interested parties can call us at 508-281-9338 or 508-263-9491 for requirements for either program.
Anything else you would like to add, Lady T?
Yes! I remember being eager to learn but growing up in the 70s and 80s knowledge of The Craft was limited to television programs (Bewitched) or the library. As I continued in my journey, I had many a difficult time, especially being a single mother for 13 years. I went to discount book stores, yard sales, borrowed books, and when I could, bought books to expand my knowledge. With the arrival of the internet, I explored many free sites and learned that if you don't pay now, they will con you into paying later. I remember forking over $5 here, $10 there or the obligatory 'whatever you can afford" and I can tell you from experience those free classes began to add up, just like extra lives on Candy Crush Saga!
When I created Magick School I wanted to be altruistic, bohemian, and free spirited and not charge for classes. The overhead was more than I planned for. My savings dwindled into single digits. To those who criticize us for charging a fee to educate more often than not do not now, never have, nor ever will own a successful business with a store and a school. A business is just that a business and as such has expenses it must meet in order to keep its doors open. We feel that our prices are more than competitive. However, one should not expect a quality education to be free. Even community colleges and public schools have operating costs. How many parents out there have forked over hundreds of dollars for school supplies, student insurance, and sports programs? I know I have! However, I would do it all again in a heartbeat.
My students come to me when they have financial difficulties and we always work it out. That is key. Tell us what is going on in your life and we will do our best to help you. That is what I love so much about teaching - the interaction with my students, giving the lecture, having that discussion, holding that workshop. That wonderful energy and bond that is created as a result. Seeing that switch turn on in their head at that moment of recognition. Capturing that broad smile of pride when they have created that beautiful wand in Frank's Wand Workshop or that enchanting meal in Kitchen Witch or experiencing the coming together in Spirit to create a meaningful ritual in Altars, Rituals and Ceremonies. All these are moments that I could never replace. I am so blessed to have these memories and to assist such wonderful people on their Enchanted Path. I am looking forward to sharing knowledge with the many who have signed up worldwide for Room on The Broom. To exchange gifts like that and to share their different experiences from around the world is a new journey that I can't wait to begin.
